Happy Hanukkah!

You wouldn't know it, but I'm one-quarter Jewish. My grandmother is an amazing, strong, deep woman at a whopping ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD. Hanukkah was never a big deal for us, all the holidays got kind of smushed together into Christmas because of—you guessed it—the tree and the massive amount of presents. Buddhism (my mom's side) just doesn't have the same fooferah.

There have been many new menorah designs over the past several years, but here is a sort of accidental one I found through DesignSponge.

It is of candlesticks designed by Lindsey Adelman and sold at Matter, but when you count 'em up there are indeed nine of them! You could use the taller one for the middle lighting candle, and eight of the shorter ones all around. In any combination, any shape, and heck I'd use them all year.

I suggest we one and all celebrate beauty and history and perseverance for the next eight days.
